Gunn attended the British American Drama Academy, which she attended for one year from 1988. Following her move to Laurel Canyon Los Angeles she resided in the same house as Pamela Adlon. Gunn is best known as the character Skyler White on the AMC Drama Breaking. In the years 2013, and 2014 she was nominated in the category of Primetime Emmy Award Outstanding Supporting Artist in a Drama Series. In August 2013 she wrote an op-ed piece for The New York Times examining the negative reactions of people towards her role as a character.
