Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on the 28th of October 1967, in Atlanta. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts that resided in Atlanta. At an early age, her father became interested in theater. While studying at Emory University in 1952 he acted in productions on campus and elsewhere in Atlanta. He joined the air force in 1953 and, while stationed in Biloxi Mississippi, he was a part of a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was part of the air force. The couple got married in 1955 and their first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter was enrolled in Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In the year 1957, they left the airforce and Walter began studying at Tulane. Walter began working for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter as well as Betty Lou financed their own production of a local Sunday morning children's show, Bum Bum and His Buddies. They established an Actors and Writers Workshop in the year 1964, and it ran for six years. The couple also had two children: Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also named Lisa) as well as Julia Billingsley (1967) (also also known by the name Julie).
