Coleman was raised in the Lancashire town of Blackpool. She was a headgirl at Arnold School, Blackpool and had straight A's at her A levels. Discussing her role on Emmerdale Coleman said that she regrets that she did not have a traditional college experience. Coleman was in High School, was part of the theatre company In Yer Space. They presented the show Crystal Clear for the Edinburgh Festival. Her performance was rewarded with a prestigious award, and the production was praised by the critics. Coleman was given the part of Jasmine Thomas at Emmerdale while performing in drama school in 2005. Coleman won two awards in 2007. The British Soap Awards she was nominated as Best Newcomer and in the National Television Awards she was nominated as the Most Popular Newcomer. It was the British Soap Awards 2009 nominated Coleman for both the Best Actress - Sexiest Feminine and the category for Best Dramatic Performance. Coleman got her TV Choice Awards nomination for Best Actress. Steven Moffat of Doctor Who revealed in a news conference held on the 21st of March, 2012, that Coleman will be replacing Karen Gillan after she and Arthur Darvill had left. Moffat picked her for the role due to the ease with which she worked alongside Smith as well as the fact that she could speak faster than him. Eva has had many TV roles, but Dr. Maria Santos from All My Children and Detective Natalia Boavistas from CSI Miami have stood out. It was the former that earned Eva two nominations for a Daytime Emmy. Additionally, she was able to showcase her creativity through music. Eva is, along with acting as an actress, is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and business owner. Eva has had three marriages and also has a daughter with her second husband.
